At 10 kilometers from the town, on a hill overlooking the plain, stands Caserta old, picturesque medieval village, with its magnificent Arab-Norman cathedral.
Caserta acquired great importance right after the Bourbons had built the Royal Palace and the park. The building includes 1,200 rooms, 34 staircase that connect the various floors, and 1790 windows. The park is long over 3 kilometers and have encloses fountains, waterfalls, exotic trees and statues.
